KUALA LUMPUR: Police have refuted claims of not taking action against a group of people who allegedly beat up and raped a Nigerian woman here.

The post alleged that the woman was arrested by police while no action was taken on the culprits responsible.

"She had only recently met her boyfriend and claimed when she was at the house, she was harmed by the man and his friends," he said in a statement on Wednesday . "The three were released on bail after an application to extend their remand was declined," he said adding that the Thai woman was investigated under Section 6 of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for not having valid documents and was remanded for 14 days.
