IPOH: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong can consider forming a minority government if no MP has the support of the majority of the Dewan Rakyat, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia deputy president explained that the statutory declarations signed by 11 Umno MPs withdrawing support for the Perikatan Nasional Government and Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had theoretically caused the Perikatan government to fall.
The Tambun MP said a minority government was not something awkward for an MP who has the largest support from MPs despite not having majority support. “Thus, a minority government can be considered by the King when choosing a new prime minister,” he told Sinar Harian on Tuesday .
