LISBON (Reuters) - Nearly 1,700 students aged between 12 and 67 gathered at the University of Lisbon's IST school of technology on Saturday to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest computer programming lesson in a single venue.
KUALA LUMPUR: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim , King of Malaysia, and Her Majesty the Queen, Raja Zarith Sofiah graced the 64th International Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly at the World Trade Centre here Saturday evening.
Sultan Ibrahim and Raja Zarith Sofiah will also present prizes to the winners of the Quran recital and memorisation categories, marking the conclusion of the 64th MTQHA, which took place over eight days since Oct 5.He said that this year’s MTQHA, themed ‘Al-Falah Pemacu Malaysia Madani’, reflected the government's efforts, led by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to call on Muslims to embrace Quranic values.
The winners of both categories will each take home RM40,000 in cash from the government, along with a gold bar worth RM12,000, contributed by the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation , as well as other prizes and certificates.
