Kinahan cartel hitmen Gary and Glen Thompson are among a number of prisoners who were moved out of the Dublin based prison this week
Two brothers who tried to kill Patsy Hutch have been moved out of Mountjoy Prison - following a major contraband crackdown in response to an arson attack on a prison officer’s home.
Sources say they’re among multiple prisoners - including one tied to the infamous Limerick based McCarthy Dundon gang, who have now been moved out of Mountjoy Prison and dispersed to jails across the country - as the investigation into Monday’s attack on a senior prison officer’s home continue. Following the attack a major search was conducted of cells across Mountjoy Prison - with phones and other contraband seized and some prisoners, including the Thompson brothers, were moved. Both brothers are well known to prison bosses.
It comes after several recent seizures were made against numerous prisoners in Mountjoy Prison over the past number of weeks. “Any person, including road users and pedestrians, who were in the vicinity of the Effernock and Maudlin Vale areas of Trim, Co. Meath, between 10.30pm and 12midnight on Monday 29th July 2024, and who observed any unusual activity, is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.
