Former stockbroker Simon Kidston - now of Queensland renewables group Genex Power Ltd fame - is set to chairman’s seat at ASX-listed copper and gold explorer QMines Ltd.

Kidston will take over from Andrew Sparke, his former colleague at Helmsec Global, who’s been driving QMines as executive chairman in recent years. Sparke will move to the managing director’s role.

It’s a good pick up for QMines, with Kidston no slouch when it comes to developing and funding projects in Queensland including in communities close to the explorer’s flagship Mt Chalmers copper deposit. It comes as QMines runs pre-feasibility works at Mt Chalmers, which is a high-grade historic mine that produced copper, gold and silver between 1898 and 1982. QMines wants to get the deposit back into production.co-edits Street Talk, specialising in private equity, investment banking, M&A and equity capital markets.
