.RepRoKhanna says 'it is unconscionable that EPA and FAANews are currently refusing to participate in a conversation about lead in children's blood.'

July 25, 2022

"Many airplanes continue to utilize leaded fuel, putting the health and safety of Americans—especially children—at risk." Khanna says in the letter that the subcommittee was recently told that the heads of the EPA and FAA were unavailable for the hearing,"so we offered to let the deputy administrators or other senior officials testify as a compromise. This option was rejected."

While the EPA did not respond to a request for comment, the FAA said in a statement that the agency"has told the committee it is more than willing to testify, but acting Administrator Nolen is unavailable due to a long-standing and full-day commitment on July 28 at the EAA AirVenture, the country's largest general aviation gathering."
