JOHOR BARU: The appointment of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as Malaysia’s eighth Prime Minister will put an end to all the political bickering that is now happening in the country, says Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

“As a leader from Johor, Muhyiddin’s appointment has made everyone in the state, including myself, very proud.

“This appointment has ended all the political fights that has caused much worry to everyone, ” he said.He also asked interim Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to be magnanimous and step aside for a new leader to lead the country.Khaled said the political upheaval and instability in the country was Pakatan Harapan’s own doing. He said the politicking was a distraction from the real issues faced by the people, including the rising cost of living, economic slowdown and the Covid-19 outbreak.

Khaled also congratulated Johor Barisan Nasional chief Datuk Hasni Mohammad on his appointment as the new Mentri Besar.“Johor is no ordinary state. We are at the crossroads to become a strong state and we need a leader who is far-sighted and experienced, ” he added. Asked about his meeting with Hasni and Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar earlier, he said it was just about old friends who were catching up with each other.
