Kevin McCarthy had to pay 21 people to achieve the Speaker’s gavel on the 15th vote. Not since the Wigs has there been that many votes for the Speakership. The first one to lay down for McCarthy was, none other than, Scott Perry. I hope he got something meaningful for his constituents. I highly doubt it. What a spectacle the Republicans put on for the World to see. They failed at their coup attempt and they failed their party with such a debacle. They even had one of their members ready to physically attack another, like some third world legislator.
We now have a House of Representatives controlled by the very people who tried, unsuccessfully, to overthrow, the outcome of a free and fair election and our democracy. Outrageous!
