Dr Mahathir diangkat menjadi perdana menteri 2 kali walaupun pernah tewas pilihan raya di tangan calon pembangkang.
Mohamad Hasan berkata, beliau akan terus mengalas tanggungjawab sebagai pemangku presiden Umno seperti yang diamanahkan.
“Ada pemimpin dalam PH, 60 tahun jadi pembangkang, tidak pernah menang pilihan raya, tetapi ia tidak membunuh kerjaya politik mereka. Mohamad berkata, beliau bertanggungjawab memegang amanah yang diberikan kepadanya sebagai pemangku presiden Umno dalam misi memulihkan kembali parti itu selepas ditolak rakyat dalam pilihan raya umum 9 Mei tahun lepas.
