The Irish centurion has announced that he will retire from International football next month, though Stephen Kenny has kept the door open for a potential return next March.
STEPHEN KENNY has left the door open for James McClean to make a dramatic return if Ireland secure a Euro 2024 playoff in March.
He is planning to make his final appearance in the home friendly with New Zealand on November 21, but has been dropped for the upcoming Greece and Gibraltar qualifiers.Kenny has opted for Celtic’s Liam Scales instead, having gone to Glasgow last night to watch him in Champions League action against Lazio.
“James was obviously named in the provisional squad and I have regular contact with James,” said the Ireland boss.
