Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret is an adaptation over 50 years in the making, with the beloved story finally hitting theaters this month. Based on the Judy Blume novel of the same name, the movie follows Margaret as she grapples with her religious identity and the struggles of growing up. The film features a star-studded cast, with Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret, Rachel McAdams and Benny Safdie as her parents, and Kathy Bates as her grandmother.

It's Me, Margaret Screen Rant: What were the biggest challenges of adapting such an iconic book into a film? Because in a film, you have to anchor yourself in a place; in a year. A lot of what I was thinking about and one of the big challenges was: how do we set ourselves in 1970, but also feel like we could sort of be any year? Where it would have this sort of general nostalgia that made everyone remember their own childhood, even if they didn't grow up in that decade.
