In an oral answer on the Parliament's website, the Ministry of Transport revealed that the Kelana Jaya LRT line is expected to achieve its frequency goal by
the end of this month. It also provided updates on the ongoing Kuala Lumpur Additional Vehicles 27 project, which is expected to significantly improve the train line's services.
According to the ministry, the Kelana Jaya line has already achieved a peak-hour frequency of 3.8 minutes and this is expected to improve to every three minutes by the end of October, which is a month later than initially announced for this goal. This follows the introduction of three new four-coach train sets last month.As you can surmise from the name, KLAV 27 will see the LRT line adding 27 new train sets to its arsenal.
Additionally, the ministry mentioned that the Kajang MRT line is also getting as improvement and expects the line's frequency to improve from six minutes to every four minutes by January 2024. The train operator is also running special programmes to repair train components that frequently experience issues.
