: Keir Starmer has officially taken office as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after being appointed by King Charles III on Friday.
Opening his speech, Starmer acknowledged his predecessor, Rishi Sunak, lauding him for his pioneering role as the first British Asian prime minister, as well as his dedication and hard work.Starmer then addressed the erosion of trust in British politics, asserting that it can only be restored through actions, not words.
“For too long now we turned a blind eye as millions slid into greater insecurity,“ he said, pledging to make daily efforts to regain the people’s trust. “From now on, you have a government unburdened by doctrine, guided only by the determination to serve your interest,“ he promised.
