CEBU CITY – A popular tourist destination in southern Cebu is set to reopen in October more than a year after it was closed for rehabilitation.
Gov. Gwen Garcia announced that the world-renowned Kawasan Falls in Badian will reopen this month after she saw positive developments in the rehabilitation efforts that were done in the area.
A multi-layer waterfall system known for its clear turquoise water, Kawasan Falls sustained significant damage when the province was battered by typhoon “Odette” in December 2021.Garcia ordered Kawasan’s temporary closure in June 2022 after an investigation showed that hazardous materials and illegal structures were posing danger to guests. During the meeting with town officials and tourism stakeholders, Garcia noted the significant changes in the area as a result of the rehabilitation efforts.
