“We strongly believe this development will bring significant attention, activity, and jobs to the area,” Kaufman city manager Mike Slye said in a statement. “We wanted this to be a gathering spot because of its tremendous potential.” Construction will start on the development next week. It’s a joint venture of Dallas-based Cedar Crest Development and the city of Kaufman.
The South Pointe Park project will be anchored by a 147,000-square-foot sport center with basketball, volleyball and pickleball courts, indoor turf, batting cages and an eight-lane bowling alley.There will also be a 100-room hotel, 180 residential units and restaurants. A splash park and walking trails are also included in the design.
