Katy ISD to launch new bus tracking system that provides real-time updates on students

Klein ISD bus driver and student use new SMART tag system. The same system will be implemented in Katy ISD beginning in the fall of 2023.Katy ISD parents of bus riders will have an added level of technology for their children starting this fall.

The system will track where and when a student is picked up or dropped off by a school bus, said media relations representative Maria DiPetta., but only the bus’ movement could be tracked. Information regarding the students themselves is unavailable through current devices.
