A Katy home-baker has snagged a sweet victory in the Food Network's 'Holiday Baking...
Hemu Basu, owner of The Sweet Sensation bakery, was the leader of the winning team in the Dec. 12 competition, bringing home a $10,000 grand prize.
"One time when Joel was little, his parents were at a Christmas party and he had a babysitter over. She fell asleep on the couch," Basu said."Joel took a crayon and drew all over her face, the house, the couch and floors – everything."The cake depicts a teenage babysitter blissfully asleep on a couch, covered in ink as Gonzalez hides under the couch, crayon in hand, with an impish grin.
Basu said that she knew her cake had the potential to win, but she was still shocked when the judges called out team Jingle Sprinkles as the winners. Basu isn't sure yet how she'll spend her winnings, but she'll likely invest it back her in baking business, she said.
