Democrats yelled for the clerk to"take down her words" to start the process of reprimanding Cammack for breaking decorum, but the clerk reminded them that the House is not operating under a formal rules package. McCarthy lost the sixth round of votes, likely pushing the process that's usually resolved on the first vote into its third day."[Democrats] want us divided. They want us to fight each other.
The new rules package can't be adopted nor any business conducted until a speaker is elected. McCarthy's path to becoming speaker is currently blocked by 20 conservative Republicans preventing him from reaching a majority. Cammack spoke before the third ballot on Wednesday, which was the sixth ballot since the voting began on Tuesday.The 20 detractors rallied behind Rep. Byron Donalds for the role after supporting Rep. Jim Jordan on Tuesday.
