KUALA LUMPUR: The woman who caused a stir at a luxury retail store here for refusing to wear a mask has been handed two RM1,500 compound notices by the police.
Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said they had completed their investigations and issued the compound notices to the woman on Sunday for breaching standard operating procedures .
"The first compound notice is for failing to scan with MySejahtera app before the entering premises, and the second is for failing to wear a face mask," he said in a statement on Sunday . The police also confirmed that the Caucasian woman in the viral video at a retail store in Kuala Lumpur is the same one who tried to enter a Bangsar shopping mall without wearing a mask.
Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Amihizam Abdul Shukor was quoted saying the police had identified the woman and were investigating the case.In the video, a maskless Caucasian woman is seen complaining to the shopping centre staff that the boutique worker had put his hands on her to prevent her from entering, which was denied by the employee concerned.
It immediately went viral with “Karen” – the generic name used for self-entitled white women – being a top trending topic on social media on Wednesday .
