The Kangar Municipal Council (MPK) has proposed a name change to the Perlis Municipal Council to reflect its role in providing services to the entire state. MPK is the only municipal council in Perlis and aims to become a smart city for the entire state, not just Kangar. The council also plans to extend its services to all 380 villages in the state by next year.
KANGAR : Majlis Perbandaran Kangar mencadangkan agar nama pihak berkuasa tempatan tersebut ditukarkan kepada Majlis Perbandaran Perlis .
“Bagi tujuan tersebut, MPK berhasrat membuat permohonan kepada kerajaan negeri untuk membolehkan nama PBT berkenaan ditukarkan kepada Majlis Perbandaran Perlis. Beliau berkata, buat masa ini, MPK telah memberikan perkhidmatan kepada 26 buah kampung dan jumlah itu akan dilanjutkan ke 30 buah kampung pada setiap bulan selepas ini.
