Some new attractions this year include a Wild West Revue and an old-fashioned sideshow.
“We’ll have 250 exhibitors offering 1,300 entries,” said Andrea Farrier, University of Illinois Extension Kane County 4-H Youth Development Program coordinator for Kane, DuPage and Kendall counties. That’s an increase from 187 youths taking part in the 2021 fair and 300 more project entries than last year, Farrier said. Those taking part belong to 25 4-H Clubs, up from 17 clubs last year.
Those new fair exhibit categories provide examples of the wide array of offerings now available through 4-H Clubs for children, teens and adults, Farrier said. Those can be through traditional clubs, classes, seminars and webinars.. They include consumer electronics, energy, family life, horticulture, leadership, nutrition and STEM education, along with farming-related areas.“The fair is for 4-H.
While the fair was not held in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021′s event drew between 45,000 and 50,000 patrons, up more than 20,000 from 2019, he said. Other fair attractions include a classic car show, performances from local bands, a petting zoo, kids play area and pig races.
