Vice President Kamala Harris will become the first woman to ever hold presidential power
November 19, 2021 - 16:20 GMT Rebecca Lewis on Friday when Joe Biden is placed under anaesthesia for a routine health exam.The medical examination is his first as President and will see the transfer of power to Kamala; she will be in control of the US military and nuclear weapons.
"The vice-president will work from her office in the West Wing during this time," White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.
On the left, we can see Kamala pictured with her mother, and in the centre, she is smiling with her husband, Douglas Emhoff.Kamala and Doug first met through a mutual friend on a blind date back in 2013 and went on to marry in 2014 – their wedding was officiated by Kamala's sister Maya.
