Kaji kaedah, bekalan gula mentah negara 100 peratus dari Brazil - Armizan

JOHOR BAHRU: Kerajaan sedang mengkaji kaedah terbaik bagi mengurangkan kebergantungan negara terhadap gula mentah import yang kini berada pada tahap 100 peratus.

“Yang ada dalam negara adalah gula ‘refinary’, gula proses, tetapi gula mentah, bekalannya kita adalah sepenuhnya dari negara luar. Sebelum ini kita terima bekalan dari beberapa buah negara, antaranya Brazil, Thailand dan India. Namun atas beberapa faktor, kini kita hanya terima bekalan dari Brazil sahaja.

Yang turut hadir, Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pelaburan, Perdagangan dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna negeri, Lee Ting Han dan Pengarah KPDN Johor, Lilis Saslinda Pornomo. “Namun faktor itu perlu dikaji semula, kerana kita perlu fikirkan keperluan asas negara untuk tempoh jangka masa panjang. Jadi, walaupun kosnya lebih tinggi sekiranya dihasilkan tempatan, tetapi kita perlu berbelanja lebih sedikit dalam aspek ini,” tegasnya.
