Kaizer Chiefs might have to cope without one of their most influential stars this weekend against AmaZulu in Carling Knockout action.

Kaizer Chiefs are unsure whether Venezuelan midfielder Edson Castillo will be available for their Carling Knockout Cup clash this weekend.

Ntseki said he and his medical team will decide tomorrow whether Venezuelan star Edson Castillo will start on Saturday. The 29-year-old midfield schemer jetted around South America for World Cup qualifiers against Brazil and Chile. Castillo, however, was not even on the bench for either contest. He might be fresh in terms of minutes under the belt, but the travel must surely have taken its toll. The Carling Knockout Cup represents another opportunity for the club to end its long trophy drought.

Meanwhile, in other current news, Shauwn MaMkhize isn’t having a great day with her finances. The Royal AM owner was slapped with an R37 million bill by SARS. That’s in addition to the money owed to former Chiefs striker Samir Nurkovic. According to, the Pietermaritzburg-based outfit was ordered to pay the former Kaizer Chiefs striker a two-year contract in full by FIFA to him and his lawyers, with interest accrued included.
