K-9 Huk recently had his leg amputated, is recovering and will be at the race.
K9s United will host its seventh annual 9k for K9s on Saturday, April 29 at World Golf Hall of Fame in St. Augustine to support and honor canine law enforcement officers who protect and serve our communities. The family-friendly event will include a one-mile fun run, classic 5K, challenging 9K and virtual “no excuse” race options.
The event will honor Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office K-9 Huk, who will attend the race to inspire participants as he continues to recover after being shot last year in pursuit of an armed suspect. Huk’s life was saved after being airlifted to an emergency vet thanks to K9s United’s efforts to pass legislation which allows working dogs to be transported via emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and helicopters.
