Kelantan ruler Sultan Muhammad V has withdrawn the datukship of Perak economic advisor Mohd Annuar Zaini.
According to an announcement by Kelantan state secretary Nazran Muhammad, Annuar was informed of the decision on March 1 based on Sultan Muhammad V's prerogative. The withdrawn award was the Darjah Kebesaran Jiwa Mahkota Kelantan Yang Teramat Mulia which carries the title of"Dato Paduka".Nazran also reminded that any use of the title which has been withdrawn would be an offence under state law which carries a punishment of at least RM10,000 fine or a minimum of three years' imprisonment.For almost 20 years, Malaysiakini has stayed true to the cause of providing the Malaysian public with the truth.
