Jessica Biel explained how Justin Timberlake ended up with his cameo on her new show CandyOnHulu ''I don't care about getting paid. I just want you to pay for my wig and I want my prosthetic belly,'' Biel recalls Timberlake saying.

Popstar and actor Justin Timberlake asked to cameo on Candy, Jessica Biel's new true crime television miniseries on Hulu. Biel stars as Candy Montgomery, a suburban housewife who was accused of the 1980 brutal murder of her best friend Betty Gore, played by Melanie Lynskey. Both Biel and Lynskey's husbands, Timberlake and Raising Dion star Jason Ritter, portray a pair of police officers who investigate Gore's murder.

Candy is a five-part miniseries that centers on the vicious murder that rocked the Texas town of Wylie. Created by Robin Veith and Nick Antosca, the show offers a character study on ax-murderer Montgomery in an attempt to shed light on what made this seemingly unassuming woman commit such a vile act. Critics have praised the series for its terrific performances from Biel and Lynskey, as well as for creating a haunting and tense atmosphere out of period-accurate late-70s decor.

"Justin was reading the scripts. We always share material and get notes from each other and stuff like that. And he was reading it, and he asked about that particular character, Steve Deffibaugh, [and said] 'Who's playing this guy?' I said, 'Oh, I don't know. Probably like a local amazing actor from Atlanta.' 'We don't have any money left' was basically the conversation. And he said, 'I want to play this part.' And I said, 'Yeah. Okay.

According to Biel, she was not initially convinced that her husband was serious about the part but contacted her producers to see if he could join the cast. She immediately found out that Timberlake had already contacted them beforehand. Biel further explained that she told her husband that the studio could not pay him for the role, but that did not deter Timberlake as he was dead-set on being cast. Biel added that her husband told her,"'I don't care about getting paid.

Although many actors have to tirelessly audition for small roles in films, the producers appeared more than willing to treat their audience with a cameo from one of the biggest pop stars of the past few decades. However, Timberlake's appearance and overt popularity may be a distraction for viewers wishing to be immersed in a world of sex, betrayal, and murder.
