WASHINGTON—The Justice Department is investigating loans Rep. Ross Spano made to his 2018 re-election campaign.
The House Committee on Ethics, which had been investigating the loans, said in a press release Thursday that it had deferred its investigation to the Justice Department. Mr. Spano received loans worth $180,000 in 2018 from two supporters, then personally lent nearly $170,000 to his re-election campaign during the same period.
