Jurassic World Dominion stars Bryce Dallas Howard and DeWanda Wise react to the sequel being the worst-reviewed film in the franchise.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY Dominion also features the return of the Jurassic Park franchise's legacy characters – Laura Dern's Dr. Ellie Sattler, Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcolm, and Sam Neill's Dr. Alan Grant – who hadn't appeared together since the original Jurassic Park in 1993.
Wise: From my perspective, I've always been pretty critic immune. We made a movie during a pandemic. Like, honestly, you can print this if you want: You can't tell me shit. We were the first production back during a pandemic. We all lived together. The people who received this movie with the love that it was created with, that's where I put my focus. That's just who I am naturally. I don't go where I'm not loved. I don't care.
Howard and Wise both raise interesting points in their responses to Jurassic World: Dominion's franchise-worst reviews. The film was produced at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and had to be temporarily suspended due to a rapid rise in cases. This certainly presented unprecedented challenges for the cast and crew to overcome, but whether or not the final product should be graded on a curve is another question entirely, with critics seemingly deciding it should not.
Howard is also right to focus on the few positive aspects of the critical response to Dominion, such as the heaps of praise for franchise newcomers Wise and Mamoudou Athie's performances, along with Academy Award winner Laura Dern's. Interestingly, other than not being phased by critics, Howard and Wise are both in agreement that Dominion's extended edition is a better representation of director Colin Trevorrow's original vision for the film.
