Juno is a new wine bar in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, that offers a relaxed and accessible experience for wine lovers. The bar boasts an extensive wine selection, playful bar bites, and a casual atmosphere.

Juno, nestled in a quiet corner of Jalan Abdullah, Bangsar , is a wine bar that caters to the easygoing drinker. Having opened less than a year ago, it sits alongside its pioneering cocktail bar neighbour, Coley. Juno embodies a casual and accessible experience, reflected in its extensive and approachable wine selection and exciting food program.

While not exactly budget-friendly, Juno, like other establishments of its kind, aims to attract younger, more relaxed wine enthusiasts – those who aren't confined by rigid wine preferences. The menu is thoughtfully curated, divided into four sections, starting with moreish bar bites like oysters, fried chicken wings, and fries, each with a playful twist. For instance, the honey-glazed chicken wings, while seemingly sweet, have a subtle hint of caramel that balances the overall taste. This dish would pair well with any crisp, acidic sparkling wine – Champagne being the classic choice, though a Crémant or Cava would be equally delicious at a fraction of the price.Juno's eight-point by-the-glass house pouring list features an array of easy-drinking options. The 2022 Martin and Anna Andorfer’s Grüner Veltliner (RM42) is a prime example, boasting high acidity, citrus, and peppery notes that complement the grilled white corn ribs (RM25). The ribs themselves are a delightful combination of sweet and spicy, with the miso caramel adding an unexpected twist. While a meal of small plates can be both satisfying and relatively affordable, the grilled sirloin steak (RM192/340g) is a substantial option for those seeking a more filling experience. The Australian Angus sirloin arrives perfectly medium rare, though a more pronounced char on the exterior wouldn't go amiss. A dollop of creamy butter further elevates the dish, providing a welcome contrast to the crispy, pebble-like smashed baby potatoes. From the wine list, the 2020 Château La Brande Castillon (RM45) – a classic Bordeaux blend – is an ideal match for the steak, while the fruitier, bolder 2017 Dona Paula 1100 (RM48) – a blend of Malbec, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon – is another excellent choice
