In between, the announced crowd of 42,780 at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday night saw Julio Urías look like the pitcher who has challenged for the last two National League Cy Young Awards.
“It’s a long season,” Urías said through an interpreter. “There’s going to be some ups, there’s going to be some downs. I try to stay consistent, ride through those downs and get back to pitching the way that I can.” “You go through your ups and your downs,” Betts said. “I’d like to not start slow all the time but that’s how the cards are dealt right now.”
The Dodgers’ 17 hits and 13 runs were both season highs. It was enough to overshadow the 2023 debut of Bryce Harper, who underwent Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last November and returned months ahead of schedule. The two-time Most Valuable Player went 0 for 4 with three strikeouts.
