p Amber Long has children within Judson ISD. She says hearing about the district's financial uncertainty leaves her feeling concerned. /p“I feel like this district does need help but twenty-odd million is quite a bit,” said Long.
It all stems from a declining student population. This year the district had 362 fewer students enrolled than last year. Long says her son used to go to Coronado Village Elementary School, but was forced to switch because of the issue. “Enrollment hadn't increased for the Pre-K class, so they decided to dissolve the Pre-K class and move him to another school, I wasn't told or given the option to choose the school,” said Long.“Where is the Pre K, could Pre K be moved, could dual language be moved?” asked Bob Templeton with Zonda Education.“These red outlines represent your current elementary zones and you can see I kinda scraped out the zone between Masters Elementary, and Candlewood,” said Templeton.
Although some at the meeting expressed concerns about moving kids to different schools to better utilize their resources, these are just proposed plans for now we will keep you up to date on air and online.
