A judge has granted a prosecutor’s request for a hearing on the issue of whether Casey White, awaiting trial for capital murder, should be transferred from a state prison to a county jail.

Attorneys for White, the Lauderdale County Jail inmate who escaped in April with the help of a jail officer and was subject to an 11-day manhunt before being captured in Indiana, last week asked for their client to be transferred from Donaldson Correctional Facility in Bessemer to Cullman County Jail for purposes of preparing for the Dec. 12 capital murder charge.Defense attorneys said Lauderdale County District Chris Connolly and Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry did not object to the request.
White has also been charged with felony murder in the death of Vicki White, the jail officer who accompanied him on his escape.
