The family of Matthew Davis already gave impact statements during the initial sentencing hearing for his teenage killer, which now continues next month.
CLEBURNE, Texas — A Johnson County judge has delayed the sentencing for a 13-year-old convicted of killing a Sonic employee.

The 32-year-old made his family proud for getting his life back on track. Much of his work was to buy things for his 10-year-old son. Most days Davis would arrive to work an hour early because he enjoyed his job so much, according to his family. Davis' family agreed with prosecutors, asking the judge to sentence the boy to 40 years.
Still, the mother of Davis and her family are calling for justice. They want the boy who shot and killed him held completely responsible to the fullest extent of the law. During the hearing, she and Davis' son gave impact statements about him. They told the judge about the pain and suffering they've endured since Davis' death.
