JPJ Cracks Down on Errant Commercial Vehicles with Nationwide Special Operation

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has launched a nationwide operation targeting commercial vehicles violating regulations. Over 88,000 vehicles were inspected, resulting in over 22,000 notices issued, 9,661 vehicles facing action, and 77 vehicles seized. Technical offences, including poor vehicle maintenance and non-compliant tyres, were among the most common violations detected. The operation also targeted Puspakom centers, seizing 21 vehicles for offences such as using false licenses and expired documentation.

The Road Transport Department ( JPJ ) has conducted a nationwide special operation targeting errant commercial vehicles , resulting in the issuance of 22,201 notices. The operation, which commenced on December 25, focused on vehicles violating regulations under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and the Land Public Transport Act (Act 715), according to Transport Ministry Secretary-General Datuk M. Jana Santhiran.

From December 25 to date, a total of 88,034 commercial vehicles were inspected, leading to 22,201 notices issued and 9,661 vehicles facing action. Additionally, 77 vehicles were seized. JPJ detected nearly 7,000 commercial vehicles committing technical offences, including poor vehicle maintenance, non-compliant tyres, improper tyre care, and worn-out tyres. The department inspected 37 centers nationwide, checking 4,945 vehicles. A total of 1,093 vehicles faced action, 21 were seized, and 1,640 notices were issued. In a separate operation that began on December 30, 2024, JPJ inspected 37 Puspakom centers nationwide, seizing 21 vehicles. Offences recorded included the use of false commercial vehicle licenses, expired road tax, expired insurance, and using commercial vehicle licenses from another company. One lorry was found to have passed Puspakom inspection despite not meeting required safety standards. This vehicle was seized under Section 64(1) of Act 333 to prevent further violations. Subsequently, JPJ has partnered with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to address cases involving discrepancies in vehicles tested at Puspakom. Enforcement will continue, integrated with other enforcement agencies
