The Rockets' Josh Christopher is dropping some exclusive merchandise at the Toyota Center team shop at 10 a.m. Saturday, hours before Christopher and the Rockets have an open practice, allowing fans to come watch them scrimmage.

The apparel, which consists of five different items sold separately, was created by the 20-year-old guard with the help of his brother Patrick, who is a designer. The designs feature space themes, including one with Christopher and his brothers Caleb and Patrick portrayed as astronauts. “My inspiration for this project was my journey to the City of Houston,” Christopher said. “Spaceships and rockets are loud and chaotic, which perfectly described my years leading up to my arrival in Houston. Whether it was back in high school when my dreams of becoming an NBA player started to materialize, overcoming the challenges of playing during a pandemic with my brother Caleb at Arizona State, or putting the work in to prep for the NBA draft … BOOM! Here I am in Houston as an NBA player.

The Rockets drafted Christopher with the 24th overall pick in 2021 after he spent one season at Arizona State. The shooting guard averaged 7.9 points per game as rookie, but came on late, averaging 12.2 points in the final 10 games, including a 30-point outburst in an April loss to Minnesota. The Rockets, who plan to collaborate on apparel with other players in the future, host their annual open practice and fan fest Saturday. The day will feature Clutch the Bear, the Clutch City Dancers, inflatable games and chances to win passes to receive autographs.
