MELAKA : Jonker Walk is showcasing 2,025 lanterns in its latest Lunar New Year celebration, says its management committee chairman Datuk Wira Gan Tian Loo
"The vibrant lanterns, in various sizes and shapes, adorn not only Jonker Street but also its charming back alleys,” he added. For the record, the Jonker Walk concept was initiated by then Melaka MCA chief Datuk Wira Gan Boon Leong in the year 2000. Gan said his committee had doubled the festive glow this year, surpassing last year's count of 1,000 lanterns, signalling the committee’s effort to elevate the festive atmosphere.
