Channel News Asia yang memetik Agensi Berita Pusat Korea melaporkan Jong Un hadir merasmikan pembukaan sebuah kilang baja di negara itu.Desas-desus mengenai kesihatan Jong Un sebelum ini diperkatakan apabila beliau tidak menghadiri sambutan ulang tahun datuknya, Kim II Sung yang juga presiden dan pengasas Korea Utara pada 15 April lalu.Kali terakhir, beliau dilihat hadir pada majlis awam adalah ketika mempengerusikan mesyuarat Parti Politburo, 11 April lalu.
Pada hari berikutnya, media negara itu melaporkan beliau memeriksa jet pejuang di sebuah unit pertahanan udara. Susulan itu, CNN melaporkan AS dilaporkan mengumpul maklumat mengenai tahap kesihatan pemimpin berkenaan.
