KOTA KINABALU: Over a hundred people were nabbed for various Immigration violations while numerous summonses were issued for other offences during an integrated operation in Semporna district recently.
The Feb 20 to 26 operation led by the Eastern Sabah Security Command , which included officials from enforcement units under the Home Ministry, local authorities and Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd, was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime.
He said a total of 11 locations including Bum-Bum island, Pondohan at the Bodgaya area and Bohey Dulang were involved in raids during the operation. Hamzah said apart from the arrests, authorities seized a total of 110kg of electric cables used for illegal power connections, issued three compound notices for food handling matters, and two compound notices issued under the Market Law Act 1972 for expired trading licences.
"From the vehicles inspected, a total of 76 summonses were issued for various traffic offences," he said.
