JOHOR BARU: Efforts to eliminate mosquitoes and curb their breeding are still wanting among Johoreans, says state health and unity committee chairman Ling Tian Soon.

He said a total of 405 compound notices with a value of RM202,500 have been handed out by the state Health Department to those found with mosquito breeding sites at their homes or premises.Johor recorded 118 cases of dengue fever with one death last week, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 855 so far this year, he added.

“Though the total declined compared to the 121 cases recorded the week before, the public should still carry out the necessary measures. “The fact that such spots are still found outside and within the compounds of homes shows that the public is still not alert about the the Aedes mosquito.
