Johor to Meet with Petra to Discuss Flood Mitigation Projects

The Johor government is set to meet with the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (Petra) today to discuss 11 flood mitigation projects worth almost RM2 billion. The state government aims to expedite the completion of five projects by December 2026, a year earlier than initially planned.

KLUANG: The Johor government is expected to meet with the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry to discuss flood mitigation projects in the state today.

The projects included the flood mitigation for Sungai Batu Pahat in Sri Medan and the flood mitigation plan for Bandar Batu Pahat, which is crucial for reducing flood risks in these areas. “Packages 1 and 2 of this initiative are designed to mitigate flooding in this flood-prone district and protect residents and infrastructure,” he said.

“We have also conducted the improvement of mechanical and electrical infrastructure for flood control in the state valued at RM2.7mil, and the construction of breakwater structures at Pengkalan Seri Menanti Laut, Muar, at a cost of RM1.8mil,” he said. “In total, 29 projects worth RM5.64bil have been approved for Johor under the Fifth Rolling Plan under the 12th Malaysia Plan , with a further allocation of RM224.8mil earmarked for 2025 under Petra,” Akmal Nasrullah added.
