JOHOR BARU: Johor police are preparing for heavy traffic in view of the upcoming long weekend over the Wesak Day holiday.
State traffic chief Supt M. Kumaresan said it was the norm for many areas, especially around here, to face bad traffic congestion whenever there is a long holiday.
“We expect a massive increase in vehicles, especially those coming in from Singapore via the two main entry points in the Causeway and Second Link due to the festive break.“Among the measures to be taken are to place several teams on traffic duty at congested locations including Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine complex,” he said when contacted.Supt Kumaresan said it was normal for Malaysians and Singaporeans to take advantage of the holiday period to shop.
“With Hari Raya Aidilfitri just weeks away, many people will also do some festive shopping as part of their preparations for the occasion. “I hope motorists will not cut queue or park their cars randomly as it may worsen the traffic situation,” he said.
