JOHOR BARU: Johor Opposition chief Liew Chin Tong has announced that he will contest a Parliamentary seat in the next general election.
However, the Perling assemblyman said that it was still up in the air when asked if he would be a candidate for the Iskandar Puteri seat
“It is not a matter of personal preference. The decision depends on the DAP central leadership’s strategy, the state leadership as well as our arrangements with the other parties in the Pakatan Harapan coalition,” said Liew. Liew was the Bukit Bendera MP after winning in the 12th General Election in 2008 and in the 13th General Election in 2013, he was the Kluang MP.
On a separate matter, Liew asked Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi to explain how he plans to increase the state’s economic growth by 7% annually to achieve a gross domestic product value of RM260bil.
