Menteri Besar, Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi berkata, pihaknya akan menggembleng kekuatan empat pihak berkuasa tempatan bagi melaksanakan program tersebut.

Beliau berkata, kerajaan ne­geri sedang mengkaji jumlah peruntukan yang diperlukan untuk membersihkan sungai ber­kenaan daripada terus tercemar. “Tiga sungai di negeri ini ber­ada dalam kedudukan 10 sungai paling tercemar di Malaysia dan antara sungai itu adalah Sungai Skudai. “Terdahulu, kerajaan negeri telah mengenal pasti 12 lokasi punca pencemaran sungai ini yang lokasinya melibatkan beberapa PBT berlainan. Jadi, satu program pembersihan sampah di punca akan dilakukan.

“Usaha ini digerakkan menerusi inisiatif Johor Bersih yang akan diterajui Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pelancongan, Alam Sekitar, Wari­san dan Budaya ne­geri, K. Raven Kumar,” katanya selepas menyertai Program Johor Bersih @ Sungai Skudai di Kampung Bakar Batu di sini semalam. – UTUSAN
