JOHOR BARU: The Johor Immigration Department has arrested 29 foreigners and a local employer in two raids conducted during an operation referred to as Ops Selera .
Johor Immigration Director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus stated that the arrests occurred between 9.30am and 10.30am on Sunday in Taman Century and Kampung Melayu Majidee. He explained that the operation followed public complaints regarding foreigners allegedly working illegally in restaurants.During one of the raids, two female suspects attempted to flee but were unsuccessful.A local woman, who owns one of the restaurants, was also detained.
The case is being investigated under Sections 6 and 15 of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for overstaying and entering the country without valid travel documents.
