NSTnation: The eight comprise four adults and four children, and all are from China too. They had undergone screening test and had shown no symptoms of the virus.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement said the ministry was informed by the Singapore health authorities that the 66 year-old from Wuhan was staying in Johor when he came in contact with the eight.

“The eight comprise four adults and four children, and all are from China too. They had undergone screening test and had shown no symptoms of the virus. “Clinical samples had also been taken from the eight to detect the presence of 2019-nCoV,” the statement read. Noor Hisham added the Johor Health Department would continue to monitor the health status of the eight for a maximum of 14 days, or until they depart to their home country, whichever comes first.

As of Jan 24, no confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV were reported in the country. The 66-year-old is Singapore’s first case of the Wuhan virus.
