JOHOR BARU: The flood situation in Johor is improving with only two districts still affected and the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres just over 26,000.
The state disaster management committee said as of noon on Friday , there were 26,263 evacuees at 95 relief centres in Batu Pahat and Segamat, the two affected districts.
“The majority of evacuees are in Batu Pahat, which has 26,219 people seeking shelter at 93 relief centres throughout the district. “Segamat only has 44 evacuees at two centres, namely the Batu Badak and Kampung Tasek community halls,” the statement read. According to the committee, five roads in Batu Pahat remain closed to light vehicles because of flooding: Jalan Parit Haji Arif/Sri Dayung near Sri Dayung Bridge, Jalan Parit Jambi , Jalan Haji Arif, Jalan Parit Warijo, and Jalan Sri Bengkal.
The statement said according to the forecast by the Malaysian Meteorological Department, good weather is expected in all 10 districts in Johor on Friday.
