Johor Fisheries Dept: Stay Away From Water Activities in Mersing as Dangerous Gastropods Detected

In response to that, the Johor Fisheries Department has issued a statement warning the public of the gastropods Petropoda (Creseis Acicula), reported BERNAMA.

A team of researchers has identified a dangerous species of gastropod in the waters of Mersing , Johor.

According to the statement, the pteropod originates from tropical and subtropical waters and was discovered in Mersing by the research team from the Batu Maung Fisheries Research Institute, Penang, on 11 June. “This mollusc has a sting that can cause inflammation, itching, dryness, peeling, redness and scaly skin,” reads the statement.
