JOHOR BARU: Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has given its full support to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the party’s president and acting chairman.
Johor Bersatu held a special meeting held at its headquarters in Kempas on Wednesday night, which was attended by 20 out of 26 division chiefs, including state chairman Mazlan Bujang.
During the meeting, Johor Bersatu decided to give its full support to Muhyiddin, who is also Pagoh MP and Gambir state assemblyman, as Malaysia’s eight Prime Minister. They also thanked and expressed their appreciation to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the former Bersatu chairman and the seventh prime minister.
“We also thank Dr Mahathir, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Dr Maszlee Malik, and Datuk Amirudin Hamzah as MPs from Bersatu who have had their memberships stopped based on the party’s constitution and the decision from the supreme council that the matter is final. “Johor Bersatu hopes party members will continue to be loyal and strengthen the party through their respective divisions, ” the state branch of the party said in a statement.
