US pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson yesterday announced an immediate cut in the price of its tuberculosis treatment course – a move that civil groups have long called for. Bedaquiline, sold under the brand name Sirturo, was approved for medicinal use in the US in 2012, becoming the first new TB drug in 40 years to be given the green light.
